Sharon L. Sullivan, Vice President, Eli Lilly and Company

Sharon L. Sullivan was named vice president of human resources - Total Rewards and HR services for Eli Lilly and Company in October 2003. She is responsible for all compensation and benefit programs globally for a workforce of 40,000, including executive and board compensation. Additional responsibilities include corporate employee health services and wellness, mergers and acquisitions and global security and asset protection. She is involved in numerous community and volunteer activities.

Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, she received bachelor of art degrees in economics and sociology from the University of Notre Dame in 1979 and a master of business administration degree from Indiana University in 1981.

Sharon joined Lilly in 1981 as a sales representative for Elizabeth Arden, a former Lilly subsidiary. She held various positions at Elizabeth Arden from 1982 to 1988. She then held positions in Lilly sales and marketing personnel and compensation development until 1993 when she was named the leader of human resources at Basingstoke, in the United Kingdom. Returning to Indianapolis in 1995, she became director of compensation. In 1997, she was named executive director of human resources. Since 1997, she has held various positions within global human resources, including the role of chief learning officer where she was responsible for succession planning, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, workforce analytics, employee engagement and performance management, as well as, the corporate portal and knowledge management system.

Sharon currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana and is married to Michael. They have two daughters.
